This series looks at the concepts of stillness, serenity, unsettlement, and space.
Building upon elements of previous works, subjects, and explorations, this series takes a moment to look at found spaces and the manipulation of said spaces. The focus of this series of images is to strip down these spaces to their basic elements and in doing so expose certain aspects of them to the point that they begin to become unfamiliar or abstract.
Space is used as an element in itself, in which the repurposing of the image caused a juxtaposition of the space, and therefore creates a new image and atmosphere.
The colour pallet of the images counteract and reply to each other, each image has a counterpart within the series that acts as a response to the space and composition of the image. These colours are meant to evoke an emotional reaction of serenity, along with a pairing of unsettlement. Despite all of these elements of focus, the subjects are ultimately still space.
I find stillness and serenity beautiful, and finding that beauty in these unorthodox spaces is rewarding. Stillness can bring along comfort and warmth, but the ideas or emotions being evoked in these spaces are becoming a reaction due to my manipulation and abstraction of the space. This inherently becomes my own response and documentation on the way I see and choose to present these spaces.
